Double Vision

Nobody remembers where the first one grew.

It showed up overnight, buried behind an abandoned building where nothing had grown in years. By morning there were three more. People who stared at them too long started seeing everything twice. Streetlights split into red and blue shadows. Faces drifted half an inch out of place. Even after looking away, the colors stayed.

By the end of the week, the mushrooms were gone. The Double Vision wasn't.
